The whole of Thuringia is celebrating the Bauhaus!

Gera's art galleries and museums are hosting themed exhibitions, e.g. Kurt Schmidt and other avantgarde artists. Gera is also home to Haus Schulenburg, a listed villa that was the last building commission for designer and architect Henry van de Velde in Thuringia before he had to leave Germany.

The Palace Museum in Gotha is remembering two Bauhaus artists – Wolfgang Tümpel (1903-1978), the metal and jewellery designer, and Marianne Brandt (1893-1983), who became head of design at the Ruppelwerke metalware factory in Gotha after working in Walter Gropius's Bauhaus studio in Berlin. Bauhaus style is reflected in the works of both artists.

Thuringia's towns invite you to celebrate 90 years of the Bauhaus. Discover works by teachers and pupils spanning architecture, graphic design, photography, furniture, ceramics, metalworking, textiles and the whole Bauhaus theatre era.
